The Academy of AutoMechanics confirms its commitment to the practice of equal opportunity and non-discrimination on the basis of race, colour, nationality, ethnic or national origins, gender, marital status, disability, religion, political belief, socio-economic background, parental status, age (subject to retirement age in the case of staff and admission requirements for students) or trade union membership.
Every member of the school is regarded as of equal worth and importance and a good education for all students is possible only if equal opportunity practices are an integral feature of all aspects of the life of the school. As such the Academy ensures:
- The provision of an atmosphere where students and staff through their behaviour towards and among each other, exhibit respect and appreciation for each other as individuals.
- The criteria used for admission is not based on gender, ethnicity, marital or parental status or disability.
- That no student or member of staff is disadvantaged as a result of disability, although our current physical layout of the site and building may restrict, not hinder, the movement of individuals with particular difficulties in mobility.
- All staff appointments are filled by the best applicants based on professional criteria and experience irrespective of gender, colour or ethnicity or religious persuasion.
- Access to resources is provided according to the need of the student and staff member regardless of gender, ability, colour or ethnic origin. or religious persuasion
- Communication of this policy to staff, faculty, students and other key stakeholders
Any form of discrimination by anyone within the Academy is unacceptable and will be treated seriously. Therefore racist symbols, badges, insignia on clothing and equipment, sexist language and behaviour are forbidden in the school.
The Managing Director of the Academy is responsible for ensuring that this policy is adhered to. Any student, member of staff or faculty, parent or spouse who considers that there has been a breech in this policy should inform the Managing Director who will investigate the matter and take the appropriate action.
